Meet Talya “Tay” Parker — a powerhouse in heels and sneakers.

With 11+ years in the game, she’s a pro at turning complex frameworks into clean, scalable systems — from data protection and privacy engineering to GRC. She doesn’t just follow frameworks — she builds them. Tay’s not just checking boxes — she’s redefining the checklist. She leads with vision, mentors with heart, and brings bold ideas to every boardroom and Zoom room.

By day, she leads global data protection and governance as a Sr. Director, mentoring rising talent and operationalizing strategies that shape the future of privacy and security.

By night (and weekend), she’s the founder of Black Girls in Cyber (BGiC) and its evolving REFRESH movement — where wellness, tech, and inclusion meet over coffee, conferences, and community.

But wait, there’s more. Tay is 24/7 all heart at home — wife, mom of two, and co-builder of Parker Active Recovery LLC, supporting her husband’s chiropractic and recovery practice while weaving in her wellness vision.

We create industry awareness and diversity in cybersecurity, privacy, and STEM through mentorships, scholarships, webinars, conferences, and community outreach.

Mentoring from experience and leading with passion, we are the catalysts for the next empowered generation in cybersecurity.

According to recent statistics, there are currently 3.5 million job opportunities available worldwide in the field of cybersecurity. However, only 25% of those jobs are held by women. To address this disparity, the BGiC Foundation (also known as Black Girls in Cyber) was established in Atlanta, GA. On June 3, 2021, it received its 501(c)3 designation.

The mission of BGiC is to promote diversity in cybersecurity, privacy, and STEM fields, with a particular focus on women of color. The organization partners with forward-thinking companies to provide mentorship, scholarships, training, community outreach activities, and events to help cultivate a pipeline of qualified women who can serve their communities in these crucial roles.

To further this mission, I decided to personally partner with 15 other trailblazing women in cybersecurity to form The Black Woman in Cyber Collective, a Co-authorship journey. These women are leaders in their organizations, entrepreneurs, mothers, immigrants, engineers, architects, hackers, and pillars in their communities. Together, we have written "Securing Our Future," a book that celebrates the brilliance and resilience of Black Women in Cyber. Remember to grab your copy of thought-provoking, inspirational.
